Vegetarians please don't read this.

So Tucano's has this "birthday club" where you can send in for a buy one meal get one free when it's your birthday month. Since Paul, Selena & I all have May birthdays, we sent in for the coupons and we all went out to eat last night.

It was mine & Jake's first time eating there so we weren't sure exactly what to expect. I mean, we understood that the waiters came around with meat and just kept slicing it off onto your plate until you would tell them to stop. There was about a 2 hour wait to get seated (a big thanks to all of our party who showed up on time and waited the first hour since Jake and I are notorious for being late.) While waiting outside I saw a big man walk out of the restaurant, pound his fist against his heart a few times and then breath real deep and loud as he slowly walked away. I was so excited to start eating!

When we walked in the salad bar looked fabulous! I was sooo excited. Then right away multiple servers started showing up at our table every 30 seconds. They would announce what meat they had and just waited for you to say yes or no and then they'd plop a big chunk of steak onto your plate. Or two chunks. Whatever you wanted! My eyes were huge and I told Selena that I could eat at this restaurant every week! It was delicious.

Not even 15 minutes later everybody's eyes started to look a little glazed over and everyone's arms were moving much slower to try and get any food up to their mouths. We stuffed ourselves that fast! I was not proud of myself in that moment for eating so much meat in so little time. I looked over at Selena and told her that I didn't think I could ever eat at Tucano's again. It was definitely a fun adventure with fun friends but you really can get too much of a good thing.

Squaw Peak Camping!

We have had a fabulous memorial weekend so far! Three of us awesome people (Me, Selena and Paul) had birthdays in the month of May so we've been partying for a while. We went camping friday night which is always a good time. I'm glad we have friends who like to get dirty.
***Insert comment by Jake, "Dirty friends. Wanky, wanky!"***

Jake and Paul Keep found an awesome log over by another campsite and thought that we needed it by our fire so they hooked it up to the subara and pulled it. Jake has way too much fun driving that car!
Then Dallin showed us some of his special Indian secrets to building a fire with two sticks and Jake shared his air flow techniques.
Merinda and Ruthie exchanged girl talk.

The band started playing and people started dancing.... in their own way.

Then there was some mountain meditation.

And Selena was in her element. (That's a camera around her neck.)

It was also FREEZING at night. We heated up some rocks in the fire and hugged them all night long.... they were really dirty but it was dark so that made everything okay. Just like the marshmallow I ate off of the ground earlier that night.

Then somebody passed gas.

They say couples start looking like each other...

My husband....

I asked him what I should blog about today and he said "how about how you're gonna change your outfit so it doesn't match mine."

He is really big on us not wearing the same color shirt-- ever. It's never the same shirt, it's just a similar color but if I don't change my shirt before we leave the house then he will go change his. What a girl!

He doesn't realize that I've had the same vision of my future companion ever since I was a little girl. I pictured my husband and I super old, speed walking down the street and wearing matching velvety tracksuits. His would be turquoise and mine would be magenta. Different colors of course, but still matching.

SEIZE not CEASE

Hahahahahahahahahaha!

Thank you fellow bloggers the Strommers for your comment! I'm usually VERY good at spelling but I missed the boat on this one. For my #5 yearly goal I meant to say SEIZE THE MOMENT. I don't want to CEASE any good thing!

That was just too funny to fix so here's a second post about it.

...a Bridget Jones moment

I don't usually start New Year's resolutions on January 1st, I start them on my birthday! Now something interesting I've discovered is that most people don't really know how to make yearly resolutions. Here's the big secret-- choose anywhere from 1-5 attainable goals.

I'm not too big on sharing personal goals with the whole entire world but not even 1% of the population will ever look at this blog AND I have to post at least one blog entry today because of a prior goal my ambitious little self made so.... here we go!

May 27th 2010 - May 27th 2011
This year I will:

1. Lose 4 pounds :)
2. Start my own business
3. Read the entire Old Testament
4. Blog at least once a week-- whoop whoop
5. Cease the moment (I stole that idea from my sis-in-law. I needed something exciting!)

Thanks Mom :)

Ever since I moved out of my parents house I have received a special package in the mail for almost every holiday. Yep, my mom even finds funny stuff to send to her children for St. Patrick's Day. It's usually candy and silly decorations. However, when it's your birthday and she's thinking about you as an individual you end up getting a pretty good package. I always get a Symphony Chocolate Bar with toffee and almond bits :) Yesterday I got a package with a cute grow-your-own houseplant, dish towels that were very "Cody," and some earrings that were fabulous. The green necklace and earrings in this photo are from my birthday gift last year, and the brown earrings were in my package this year. So what I've learned recently is that my mom has really good taste when it comes to picking out jewelry! My favorite part about getting a gift like this from her is that it always comes with a cute little note that tells a story. What it's made out of, where she found it, the name of the lady on the side of the road that she bought it from, why it made her think of me, etc. And jewelry is one of those extra things that nobody really needs but it makes a girl feel pretty. So thanks mom!

My $.02

I love how Jake talks about Utah drivers. "What people don't realize is that they're driving these HUGE WEAPONS!" When you get into your car, EVERYONE else on the road is putting their trust in you to be a safe driver.

Our friend showed us a youtube video compilation of cars running red lights the other day and since then I've been completely paranoid about driving. I'm not posting any of the videos because they can be pretty graphic and will make you cringe. I bet most of you reading this will visit youtube shortly hereafter but be warned! If you watch one, you'll end up watching another and another. It's like passing an accident on the interstate--traffic slows down because everyone has to look for some twisted reason.

So here's my two cents. Please just be aware of yourself and realize that speeding and weaving and pushing limits when you're driving TRULY doesn't get you there any faster. It doesn't impress anyone. And you should feel lucky to have a working vehicle that somebody else hasn't run into yet. Driving like an idiot doesn't just irritate people, but it could end up changing yours or someone else's life. It could change an entire families life. It could end a life.

Put down the cell phone. Put down the iPod. You're adults. You've been given a privilege.

Adam's PB & Annie's Jam

When it comes to peanut butter, I'm pretty much a snob. I'll only eat Adam's brand PB or freshly ground peanut butter from Whole Foods. In fact, I don't even like PB & J sandwiches all that much, but if it's Adam's peanut butter I'll eat 'em anytime and all the time. And pairing it up with some of Grannie Annie's home canned jam .... Mmm mmm! I could eat a PB & J everyday! And with a big 'ol glass of whole milk. We're not skim milk sissies in this household. No, not even 2% for the crowd we roll with.

More Earth Stuff!

Isn't it awesome that human hair naturally picks up oil???? I asked my sister Jade to save all of the cut hair from their salon-- and in one week it was only one trash bag full. It's gonna take a lot more hair to pick up hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil. So if you've got any connections, let me know. I'd be happy to come pick up some old stinky hair! Oh yeah-- and Cameo is the school I'm attending to get certified as an Electrologist.

Biodegradable Goodness

I was just sitting on my couch being a lazybum (ya it's one word) and I was so happy to see this commercial :) If FritoLay can make a bag like this, can't everybody else? I'm sure you've all seen the commercial, didn't it make you think and smile a little bit? I already enjoyed eating the Original flavor Sun Chips before the new bag came to be, but now they taste even better to me! Here's the Sun Chip bag explanation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sun Chips "Because the Earth likes to eat healthier too."

We dream of a world with less waste. That's why we've introduced a bag made from plants so it's fully compostable. Every 10 ½ oz. SunChips® package is designed to fully break down in just 14 weeks when placed in a hot, active compost bin or pile. If it takes a little longer, don't worry about it. Mother nature will get to it soon enough.

Truth be told, our new bag sounds a bit different than our previous bags. That's because plant-based materials have different sound properties than the materials used to create our old bags. So although this version is a little bit louder, we hope you'll appreciate the change and the positive environmental impact it will have.

Lame

I like using the word lame. It wouldn't be very nice for me to use it around a lame person but I figure two things: 1) I'm not around lame people all that often but maybe I should switch to the word leprosy to lessen the chances even more. 2) It's kind of like using the words retarded and gay, only it's the 80's version instead of the 90's version which takes just a little more of the edge off of a piercing word (approximately 10 years more dulled). Even though we're not being literal with our words, we're still being cruel. Our generation has calloused itself enough not to care. I let myself be part of the problem and that's depressing. See, here I am rambling but I MUST post so this is what you get.

What I really came here to say is that getting snow in Utah on May 24th is LAME. It's my day off from school so I'm glad I don't have to drive to Salt Lake in crummy weather, but still, IT"S MY DAY OFF! We got about 4 inches overnight and I took this picture from the front porch.

I wasn't about to put on my boots and winter coat to go out and take multiple pictures because that means the weather would have won this battle. If there was any inkling of me going to the gym today, forget about it! However, I can still exercise inside my home and NOT have to walk through a slushy, freezing mess! I can still put newspaper down to cover the carpet and finish painting my dresser inside the house. And the beautifully blossomed trees may be hunkered over as far as their skinny fibers can handle, but they aren't breaking.

So LAME Utah weather, I WIN THIS ONE!

Blog-a-thon

I never think I have anything interesting enough going on in my life to blog about so I let weeks and months go by without inviting anyone into my world, into my head, and into those daydreams that make Cody who she is. I never talk in third person. It's probably because I haven't eaten breakfast, and that makes me weird. So this week I've challenged myself to a 7-day blogathon! --Sounds more intense than what I'm really going to put into it. Maybe I don't have anything NEW or SUPER EXCITING going on in my life, but I still have thoughts to share. So whether deep or shallow, you'll get at least one post from me every day this week. And yes, my week starts on Monday. Who's the genius that decided our calendars should start with Sunday? Probably an athiest. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Haha, remember that Seinfeld episode with all the gay people?... And so my ramblings begin! This is dangerous-- forcing myself to post something, anything, and then you get to see how I process.

I'm glad Jake "gets" me.

Jersey Shore

So I've never actually seen an episode of Jersey Shore, thank goodness! But it's almost impossible to avoid ridiculous clips of these girls when I enjoy shows that make fun of the reality show insanity. I remember seeing a clip of some of these girls in a hair salon and I thought to myself that they looked like aliens. They were such a weird color from spending every day in a tanning bed-- but it's not even orange, it's almost like they're a purple color! I was so disturbed by this that I just had to find a picture of one of these aliens for our screen saver. *Remember the post about Jake and our screen savers?* Well I couldn't find a picture of the purple girls but I did find a picture of Snookie. I really couldn't tell you anything about her because I could care less but her hair reminded me of something... so I found a picture of that too.
